Prey 2 Officially Delayed Past 2012

So the game is not cancelled (thank goodness) but is instead being delayed beyond 2012. Bethesda released this information this morning along with the following statement:

“Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.”

It’s too bad that it’s not currently up to Bethesda’s standards but all I can say is that I’m happy i’s not outright cancelled. There is still a chance for this game, we will just have to wait.

God of War Ascension Announced For PS3

Amazon.com posted a listing for the newest game in the God of War series and even gave us a teaser trailer, now available in HD on GameTrailers.com:

God of War Ascension Teaser

The narrator says in the teaser: “There was a time before Kratos became the monster known as the Ghost of Sparta, a time when something other than rage consumed him. A time when in spite of the madness that plagued him, Kratos would break his blood oath to an unjust god. A time when he would no longer be bound in blood.”

Judging from that, I believe this game is to be set before the game God of War: Chains of Olympus which was a prequel to the series thus far. The product description for the game on Amazon.com states “Join Kratos as he seeks freedom, redemption, and clarity to avenge his family in the most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far”.

I think we have a whole lot to be exited for and a whole lot more news to come. I will be updating here on linksaveszelda.com so make sure to check back!

Crysis 3 Announced, Coming Next Spring

EA officially announced Crysis 3 today, following up on last weeks leak of information. The game is set to come out in Spring 2013 on the newest CryENGINE – which, if I may add, is absolutely gorgeous!

In the third installment in the Crysis series you will play as Lawrence “Prophet” Barnes in a fight against the Cell Corporation, back in New York City. The city has been encased in a nanodome by Cell which has caused the City to turn into a “veritable rainforest teaming with overgrown tress, dense swamplands and raging rivers” according to EA in their press release earlier today. Inside this dome there are seven distinct environments referred to as the “Seven Wonders”. The new and dangerous world calls for some new and equally dangerous weaponry and tactics. Prophet will be equiped with a super awesome composite-bow as well as plenty of other weaponry, an advanced nanosuit, and a plethora of alien technology to make him into the most deadly and efficient killer in the world.

The mission is a revenge mission for Prophet as he tries to uncover the truth about Cell and stop them. Cell told the civilians that the nanodomes were put in place to protect them from the Ceph, but in reality it is Cell’s way of gaining power and alien tech to dominate the world. Ceph and humans alike will be your enemies, “Nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for redemption.”

Chief Executive of Crytek Cevat Yerli stated “Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love, leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

The game is now available for pre-order and Crytek also let us know that the Hunter Edition of the game will offer plenty of multiplayer goodies such as an XP boost, early composite-bow access, a bow skin, and 3 unique dog tags.

In addition to the Hunter Edition, select retailers are offering other packs of the game including the Stalker Pack, Overkill Pack, and Predator Pack. More information on these will be available in the source link at the bottom of this post.

Here is a video slideshow of shots from the game, if you all are interested. It looks marvelous.

Rumor: God Of War IV?

So… God Of War IV. That’s neat.

It appears as if Sony is getting ready to announce the next installment in the God of War series, with taglines of “Will vengeance bring redemption?” and “Nothing will bring them back” followed by the date 04/19/12. This game has been hinted at and rumored about for awhile now, so we are all hoping that this is actually what we think it is. I mean really, we wont know for sure but there have been photos of God of War IV “pre-order now” displays in game stores, so it seems likely. Plus that tagline seems to hint at the game as well, since in the God of War series Kratos’ goal has been to exact vengeance on Zeus and the other gods while all the while being haunted by the memories of his wife and daughter that he slayed.

It would be pretty awesome if they announced the next God of War, but we have to remember that it could be anything at this point. I will make sure to keep my eyes out for news on the 19th and post it here for all of you to enjoy.

Kinect Support Will Be Added To Skyrim

Bethesda announced that they will soon be adding Kinect support to Skyrim, adding over 200 voice commands. This means that instead of performing shouts at the TV like an insane person, you can actually shout and have it mean something. You can Fus Ro Dah everyone and everything in Skyrim simply with your beautiful voice.

This feature is supposed to come out later this month as a free title update. There is more that just shouting too, there will also be voice commands for hotkey equipping, follower command, and all menus. You will also be able to create and load save data. It’s also been said that “Skyrim’s Kinect for Xbox 360 Support also adds new functionality including special map functions, additional hotkey options, and the ability to sort inventory items by name, weight, and value.”

So keep your eyes, and ears, open for the new update and remember, when you hear your neighbor shouting at the TV make sure you shout right back!
