Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima reflected on the series’ 25th anniversary in a blog post, and said that we will get a look at the Fox Engine next month at an event in Japan. The Fox Engine will likely power the next Metal Gear Solid game.
Kojima’s statement on the PlayStation Blog:
“The Fox Engine is nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along. Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games. Production studios in Japan are nearly extinct, a fact that we have recognized for nearly 10 years, and although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do… on August 30th in Japan to be more specific.”
Here is a preview of what this engine be able to do, and here are some photo’s Kojima tweeted on ‘Project Ogre’ which is said to be the new Metal Gear Solid game.
So August 30th is the day when we will find out more about this new engine, and possibly more on the next Metal Gear Solid game.

This is mad awesome since (if the rumors are true) the next Zone of the Enders game is supposed to utilize the Fox Engine… and I love me some ZoE. Score!
Wow that’s really cool! I was looking at the pictures from the engine and I’m just amazed at what Kojima can do. It looks super amazing.
I’m really looking forward to the next MGS game!
I kind of am too, I’ve never played a MGS game though – but I have watched by boyfriend who is a HUGE mgs fan play the first 3 and I’m planning on playing the 4th soon. I just really like how genius the graphics are, and the story telling is amazing. They are great games!
