Publisher Deep Silver announced a new game over the summer called Dead Island: Riptide. The game is to take place as a spin off of the original game Dead Island. Deep Silver has made a point that this is not going to be a sequel to Dead Island, but rather a game following in the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood line, a side game if you will.
Anyway, there have been more details revealed for the game recently and I’d like to fill you in one what to expect from Dead Island: Riptide.
Riptide is said to focus more on melee or hand-to-hand combat, unlike Dead Island which incorporated melee and gun fighting. There is to be a new gaming engine that Riptide will run off of as well. A new weather system will be placed in Riptide, allowing things like flooding to happen. Good news to those of you who played Dead Island – You will have the option to carry over your Dead Island character into Riptide. Also, your characters stats from the previous game will carry over.
The game takes place in a new location, you will no longer be fighting the zombies off in Banoi. Dead Island: Riptide is due out sometime in 2013. For the full story, check out this video: Dead Island: Riptide – First Details Interview
