Aliens: Colonial Marines & Devil May Cry Given Release Dates

Aliens: Colonial Marines has been added to the growing list of games that have been delayed until 2013. The game has been given an actual release date though, it will now be launching February 12, 2013 for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The planned Wii U version has not been given a release date, although no actual human should ever play this game on the Wii U.

A new trailer has been posted for the game though, check it out here.

Also, Devil May Cry has been been given a release date. It will come out on January 15, 2013 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. A PC version is apparently underway and will be given a date at a later time. The DMC reboot will be at Capcom’s booth at E3 this year – which is great news!

Aliens: Colonial Marines, What Is That All About?

I’m here to tell you what it’s all about. For awhile now I have been seeing random news and a few trailers here and there for this game. I’ve been very curious about all the details, so I decided to do some research and to fill you all in on what I’ve found, since I’m sure I wasn’t the only one out of the loop.

So, to start, Alien: Colonial Marines (or A:CM for short)  is published by Sega and developed by Gearbox – the creators of Borderlands. The game will be taking place as a direct sequel to the fan favorite movie Aliens, directed by James Cameron. The developers are working closely with 20th Century Fox in order to make this game a true, interactive sequel to the movie, also following official cannon. You will be playing through the campaign as, you guessed it, colonial marines fighting for the United States. Your character is sent out to find more information on the events that took place in Aliens. The settings throughout the game will seem familiar as most of them are from the movie Aliens, places such as the Sulaco and Hadley’s Hope. There are also said to be references to the characters from the movie and insights into Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie Prometheus. As you would assume, your enemy throughout A:CM will be the classic xenomorphs we all know and fear.

What you can expect from this game as far as atmosphere goes without saying – but I’m going to say it anyway. Look forward to creepy atmospheres made possible with lighting, sound effects, and obviously your instilled knowledge and fear of the xenomorphs. Speaking of which, you wont be up against just your basic xenomorphs the whole time. There will be different types with different abilities such as the crusher alien, with a bull-like charge and large cranial radius made for, well, crushing – so looks out.

Since Gearbox is developing, you can expect some amazing co-op from this game. A:CM will feature the drop-in/out online co-op feature, meaning that players can drop in or out of your game without slowing you down. I haven’t seen any denial or confirmation of local co-op so we will have to wait and see what comes up in the future. There are four characters to play as, so four player online co-op will be available throughout all of the campaign missions. A:CM will feature a weapon upgrade system, so your loadout will always be packing a punch. You will also be able to extensively upgrade your character to make them more suited to your play style – those xenomorphs wont have a chance. There is talk of multiplayer as well, including a team deathmatch mode of humans versus xenomorphs.

This game doesn’t have a release date yet, but last heard Spring 2012 was when it was expected to be out, so will will have to keep our eyes open for it. Hope you enjoyed my article and got enough information about the game to make a decision about whether or not it’s for you, I know I will be getting this one on release day though.
