This year has been a year of firsts for me. I started my first blog, I created my first Twitter account and Facebook page, I began streaming for the first time, and for the first time I started to what I really love – writing.
In April of 2012 I woke up one morning and thought that I’d like to start writing. I wanted to write about something I’m passionate about and I wanted to break into journalism. As for the passionate part, I chose gaming. It’s obvious, to me at least, that gaming is a huge part of my life. I’ve been playing games all my life, and as I have gotten older I have only become more interested in them. It only seemed natural to want to write about them, so I did. A few days after the idea came into my head, I did the research, found Word Press and bought my domain. Now linksaveszelda.com is a thriving hub of information as well as other fun things like articles and my reviews. Running the whole thing alone has been a blast, and I plan on going into the new year with the same mindset. Although, if you are interested you can always contact me if you’d like to contribute something game related. I’d love to feature some of your work.
This year was also the first year for my streaming project. I don’t really remember when I started it up. I remember that the idea came to me while I was recording a Let’s Play of Dead Space and I thought that it would be more fun to do it live. A friend of mine who began streaming helped me get everything set up and then I began. At first, I was scared that it wouldn’t turn out well, or that I would fail somehow, but I’m glad I did it because I met some amazing friends along the way. I have a great group of regular viewers, people who I consider now to be my friends and who I look forward to hanging out with at the streams. Without them, I probably would have stopped streaming long ago, what makes it the most fun is having cool people there who are enjoyable to be around. It brings a smile to my face to think of how lucky I am to have found a fun project and such good friends.
Let’s not forget the games, now. So many great games have come out this year, I started to list them but really it was becoming quite the task and I though of a better idea. I have decided to name a game a month that stuck out to me and that I have bought and played. I encourage you all to share what your favorite games of the year 2012 are, so of course do so! In January Soul Calibur V was the game I most enjoyed. I’m a pretty big fan of the Soul Calibur series, so that one was a big deal for me. In February I bought Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and I loved it, it was a fantastic game. March, well this one is obvious, Mass Effect 3 blew me away – I’ve already told you all about that though. The April game that I liked most was Binary Domain, I really enjoyed that game even though it seems a little under the radar. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was my favorite game of May, regardless of whether or not it was “true Resident Evil”, it was fun. In June Gravity Rush was released for the PS Vita, and even though I am just playing it now it’s my favorite game of June as I wished I had the chance to play it back then. I didn’t really play anything that came out in July, but The Secret World came out and I’s still wanting to play that. In August I most enjoyed Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, that was a really fun game to play. Borderlands 2 came out in September, and that was my favorite game of that month for sure, even if I have yet to complete it. October is tough, but I think Resident Evil 6 stuck out to me the most, I rather enjoyed it. The Walking Dead Episode 5 came out in November, and I’d have to say that this conclusion made my November. December has been a cool down month for me, I haven’t really bought or played anything new, just continued playing games from other months. It has indeed been a great year for gamers everywhere.
Overall, this year has been so very eventful and fantastic. Here’s to another great year for gaming, for linksaveszelda.com, for the streams, and for all of you and people everywhere You all made my year, and I can’t wait to write and stream and play games for you all next year! Happy New Year, see you again in 2013.
